Google is testing a new useful feature for Pixel smartphone users in the Android 16 operating system, Android Authority reports.
It's called Screen-off Fingerprint Unlock. The new feature will allow the fingerprint scanner to work even when the screen is off. Once enabled, you'll be able to tap the scanner area when the screen is off and the Pixel's screen will light up and unlock if the correct finger is used.
Google first introduced the Screen-off Fingerprint Unlock feature in Android 16 DP2, but back then it was limited to only the Google Pixel 9 series. However, with the release of Android 16 Beta 3, the company expanded compatibility to all Pixel smartphones.
