NVIDIA has officially released G-Assist, a new AI-powered assistant available in the company's software. This assistant is capable of optimizing game and PC settings. To use G-Assist, you need a computer with a GeForce RTX 30, 40, or 50 series graphics card and 12 GB or more of VRAM.
G-Assist will help users manage various PC settings, including optimizing game and system settings, adjusting frame rates, monitoring important performance metrics, and controlling peripheral settings such as lighting, all via voice or text commands.
NVIDIA's Assistant will use a compact language model (SLM) that runs directly on the user's computer. G-Assist will be able to perform real-time diagnostics, provide recommendations for resolving system issues, improving energy efficiency, optimizing game settings, overclocking the GPU, and more.
Additionally, the assistant will be able to answer questions about your PC or NVIDIA features. Users will be able to ask how DLSS Frame Generation works, how the CPU or GPU is being used, and receive chatbot-style answers from OpenAI and others. For peripheral control, products from Logitech G, Corsair, MSI, and Nanoleaf are currently supported.
Unlike cloud-based models, G-Assist will run locally on GeForce RTX graphics cards and will be completely free. Under the hood, the assistant uses Meta's Llama-based Insturct model with 8 billion parameters. The assistant can also be invoked with the Alt+G key combination.
